Cloud business

I've been at the Ubuntu Developer Summit this whole week, and one of the most exciting things I walked away with is the cloud stuff

 

Ubuntu's cloud orchestration is called Juju. This set of tools allows one to provsion various machines on a cloud provider such as Amazon's EC2 or a private cloud on something like OpenStack. One can provision services and expand very easily. A little too easily!

CIO Scholarship for SFSU College of Business Information System Students

The CIO Scholarship Fund Endowment in Information Systems has made $1000 available this spring for Information Systems undergraduates. Two scholarship awards will be made in Spring 2012 to students graduating in May 2012 to May 2013. The CIO Scholarship program will continue with each academic year. Applications should be submitted to the CoB Student Services Advising Center, BUS 112, by 5 p.m., March 30 th, 2012. The award is an honor that can be included in a resume.

Memorandum of Understanding between SF State and One Laptop per Child

You've probably seen me toting a silly-looking green laptop around campus - the One Laptop per Child XO laptop. A fair bit of good work has come from our ongoing work with One Laptop per Child. To that end, I am pleased to write that San Francisco State University and One Laptop per Child Association have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on existing effort and future work.

Following three courses in Spring 2012 will extensively integrate SAP. The courses are ISYS 471 (E-Commerce), ISYS 569 (Business Process Management) and ISYS 663 (IS Project Management). SAP is widely used by Fortune 100 companies and excellent for your resume.

Top paying jobs for class of 2011

Thanks to Prof. Beckman for sending this in. From a recent article on CNN's help desk:

Now, in 2011, we can at last say that things are really and truly looking up for new college grads. According to the annual survey by the National Association of Colleges and Employers, overall, employers plan to hire 19.3 percent more new college graduates this fall than they did in the fall of 2010, the first double-digit percentage increase since 2007.

Outlook for MIS jobs from 2012 to 2018
